I came to Aardman studios as an aspiring animator in order to ask any potential ways of getting talking to the staff. Naturally the location is strictly off limits and the method of contacting the receptionist was with a front door buzzer.

I spoke to Jo Jo from reception and she seemed skeptical about my request at first but after a few minutes she told me about the Aardman academy and also any potential pubs and venues where I could interact with the staff and ask their stories about the animation industry.

Overall it was a strange request but I am happy I went and asked.

Lovely building to observe from the exterior if you're in the area. Aardman animations - creator of Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Morph and many more are based in this building. Unfortunately you cannot enter the premises due to it being a busy film studio (as clearly stated on the sign in the picture I took). However, they always have several small but interesting displays in their windows (usually including a variety of characters and props from their productions) which you can view from the outside. These displays do get changed every once in a while I believe, which is quite nice for a revisit to see something different. Overall it's definitely worth a 5-10 minute walk around the building if you are nearby, especially if you're with kids as they will love to look through the little windows at their level to view the displays and interior of the exciting film studio.

Aardman sure is the best known for its animations like Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Creatures Comfort, Chicken Run and Morph. I have never been to this studio before but I'd really love to go there someday.

I live in Ireland and my favourite Aardman projects are Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep and Morph.

For lovers of film, animations, illustrations and the geniuses behind some of our most loved and impactful pieces of content, this place is a rollercoaster of excitement, emotion, and admiration. I'm not too sure whether they allow for visits or tours of this space, so best to check their website and the local museum that features a lot of history about Aardman. As a side note, Bristol is an absolutely gorgeous city and a place everyone should spend a couple of days if they need some fresh air or to help get their creative juices flowing again.

Dear Aardman people, please carry on working with real puppets in a real scene! 3D software cannot replace this! It may be an option for some task, but in common it is not a good idea. Logical, isn't it? People working in a real scene generate an other atmosphere than animators just workin on a screen. Please think about it.
